'AFRICAN COOL KIDS' SHOOT - Exclusive pictures

Independent project - AFRICAN COOL KIDS. London meets Africa

I decided to put together an independent project just on the side to challenge myself in order to see whether I was capable to put together a mini collection of 6 for men and women, also to my advantage the showcase would have taken place at an event with BEN TV called "The brand presentation awards night with people and places tourism" which my mum had organised, so it would be a good opportunity to put MAGE MODA out there and also use the chance to network and meet other people. I started designing and creating at the beginning of the year, i went on a hunt for authentic African material (Ankara) i wanted to something eccentric with bold tribal colours and i found JUST THAT i also put together research for make-up that would relate to the theme. I gained inspiration for my designs from everyday fashion you see out on the streets in London and decided to intermix these designs with African print. I also come up with the idea to not just make ordinary compete outfits and throw them on the catwalk but make individual pieces to style up with other things such as a plain black polo neck jumper and a baseball cap. As the day of the event started to draw upon us I began to contact models, a make up artist and photographer and put together other little bits and pieces such as rehearsals and stage music. It was a stressful few months and i have kind of gained a little insight as to how hard it must be being a designer/ stylist and creative director because for 1 day I was ALL of them and i must admit it is hard work but very rewarding. The day of the show came and i must say i didnt believe it would go as well as it did, the models were AMAZING, the make- up artist did a BRILLIANT job and the photographer was FANTASTICO, I was overly thrilled and proud of my mini team, as well as that i have to admit i was quite proud with myself for actually organising the whole thing as it was a major success. i just want thank everyone that came, all my friends who had my back and all my loved ones who supported, you all mean the world to me. There is one person i owe it all to and that is the big man upstairs.

WATCH THIS SPACE GUYS. There more to come.

Lots of love
